Professor Isaac Oluwadare Busayo hails from Ogotun-Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, where he was born on 10th December 1961. For his post-secondary education, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Ibadan.
He holds a Diploma in Library Science from ABU, Zaria (1987), a Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling (1996), a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies (2001), and a PhD in Media Resources Management (2016), all from the University of Ibadan.
Professor Busayo began his career in librarianship as a Library Officer at the then University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD), now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, in October 1987. He steadily progressed through the ranks, becoming an Assistant Chief Library Officer in 2002 and Librarian I in 2005. In 2006, he was appointed Principal Librarian at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. He later joined the University of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, in October 2008 as a Senior Librarian and Acting University Librarian. Similarly, in October 2009, he was appointed Principal Librarian and Head of Technical Services at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, before transferring his service to the Federal University Oye-Ekiti in October 2013 in the same capacity.
His career trajectory continued with his appointment as Deputy University Librarian in October 2017, followed by his role as Deputy University Librarian and Head of Ikole Campus Libraries from January to September 2020. He was subsequently appointed University Librarian in October 2020, a position he continues to hold.
Professor Busayo has made significant scholarly contributions to the field of Library and Information Science, with approximately forty publications in both national and international journals.
He is happily married to Mrs Iyabode Dupe Busayo, an administrator, and their union is blessed with children and grandchildren.
